"Two words I would use to describe Nicole are determined & passionate! Her competitive drive is inspiring. She's nto only a great mom but she also takes time for herself. She knows the importance of balance." - Ellen Burnett, F4M Playgroup Captain
1. Provide a brief description of your family.
My husband, Austin, is in his third year of medical residency at Baylor Scott & White in Temple. We have a daughter, Peyton, who is a little over a year old, and our original ‘baby’, Oliver, our orange cat.
2. Tell us something unique about yourself that we might not know.
I have never eaten meat.
3. How long have you been a member of FIT4MOM Temple, and what has it done for you?
I’ve been a member of FIT4MOM Temple for almost a year now and it has really helped me to embrace motherhood! It was SO wonderful to meet a group of strong moms and it has truly helped me to love this newest season of life. It has also helped me get back to my pre-pregnancy weight and develop a healthier lifestyle.
4. What has been your favorite F4M program? Why?
Body Back has been my favorite F4M program! I love Strides and Barre, but Body Back showed me just how strong I am, and how far I can push myself. It really drove me to grow as a person and a mom.
5. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years I believe that I will be back at work, probably for a biomedical engineering company, but I fully intend to still be exercising regularly and still showing my daughter (and any future kids) that treating your body with respect is important.
In 5 years Peyton will hopefully have a sibling (or 2) and Oliver will hopefully have pet siblings too!
6. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?
How much you can love someone who has created absolute chaos in your life and acts like a terror sometimes!
7. What is your proudest mommy moment so far?
My proudest “mommy moment” is watching her cuddle and kiss our cat. I am such an animal lover and it’s incredible seeing how much this little child loves her kitty. It’s also pretty incredible seeing our cat put up with some of the things Peyton does to him ;-)
8. Any advice for other moms out there?
Get out there! Don’t let yourself become trapped in your home like I felt the first few months of motherhood.
Meet your group of moms – whether through Fit4Mom, MOPS, the local library etc – and cherish them because they will be some of your biggest supporters on this awesome adventure!
9. What are your favorite things (other than your family)?
Running. It’s such a zen experience for me and it really helps me to re-center myself.
Reading. I love pretty much nothing more than curling up with a good book and a glass of wine!
Queso! Because, it’s queso!
