"She's incredible! I was paired with her in my first partner class and she was so supportive! Later that day she sent me a message to tell me how much she enjoyed exercising with me. That was my first month of Stroller Strides! She is part of the reason I have felt welcomed and encouraged.
I could go on and on about Susan and how she has impacted me, however this section is for HER." Ashley Heinrich, F4M Temple||Belton Instructor

Tell us about your children:
My boys light up my world!
Patrick is smart, sensitive, and creative. He is curious and interested in learning more about the world around him. Patrick takes great pride in being a big brother.
Owen is self-assured (this boy knows exactly what he wants and doesn’t want) and compassionate. He is silly with a wild streak, but often takes time to quietly observe the situation before jumping in.
My boys are now at the age where they are starting to play well together. Some of my favorite moments come from watching them sing, dance, and play together. Their laughter makes my heart melt.
I worked in model home design after college. I soon figured out it wasn’t my “calling” and went back to school so I could teach. I was a Montessori teacher and consultant for 9 years before moving to Temple. Right now I teach art two days a week, I’m a Noonday Ambassador and sell fair trade jewelry and accessories, and I am working towards opening a children’s museum here in Temple!
What was your childhood ambition?
As a child, I always loved art and design. When I was little I would set up a gallery in our living room and “sell” my pictures to my family for 25 cents! When I got older, I thought it was fun to draw floor plans (maybe I should have been an architect).
What does motherhood mean to you?
Motherhood is the most rewarding, yet most challenging, thing I’ve ever experienced. It is loving someone more deeply than words can express. Motherhood means nurturing and guiding my children through their successes and failures, all while helping them become self confident, kind, and caring young men. It means devotion, forgiveness, vulnerability, and trust. I am learning that motherhood is letting go of “perfection” and embracing the journey.
What is the furthest you have been from home?
I had always dreamed of traveling overseas, so my husband and I took a one year anniversary trip to Europe! We went to Paris and Italy.
What does Stroller Strides do for you (or mean to you)?
Stroller Strides has changed my life. You, ladies, are some of the most inclusive, encouraging women I have ever met. I am not motivated to work out on my own. Stroller Strides not only keeps me healthy and fit, but it also keeps me emotionally fulfilled. I know I have made friends I will have for life.
What is your favorite exercise?
Anything with a partner. A partner motivates me!
What is your proudest moment?
That’s a tough one. The most recent one was getting non-profit status for the Temple Children’s Museum!
What are three of your favorite things (besides your family!)?
Traveling to new places, eating amazing food, enjoying the outdoors.
Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us or makes you unique.
If we asked your spouse what they think your best qualities are, what would they say?
Determined, caring, good cook
What advice would you give to moms looking to get back into shape?
You have to start somewhere!
I’m not the fastest, most flexible, or most coordinated person out there, but I have learned to show up and TRY!
Even on the days I don’t want to go to Stroller Strides, I never regret it once I’m there; I’ve found those are actually the days I need it most.
